December Newsletter
Happy New Year! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas break! Here’s what we’ve all been up to recently.
Christmas gym session
Following the success and positive feedback of our Halloween gym session, we celebrated our last session of 2024 by making it Christmas themed. We made a festive playlist, all wore Christmas clothing and did themed exercises.
At the end of the session, we distributed Christmas presents to celebrate the growth and commitment of our group members, who have been key in creating the friendly and supportive gym group environment that we have today.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a great way to round off the year!
Client Reflections
Here is a lovely testimonial we recieved from Sam Woodhouse back in December. Sam has been with us for a while now and we are thrilled to hear that he is so happy with his progress and is feeling a lot better in himself.
Sam Woodhouse:
” I can’t believe how far I’ve come this year with my fitness and general well being! From 93kg back in December 2023 to 84kg now in December 2024!
I’ve focused so much on improving myself mentally and physically! From hitting the lowest point in my life to reaching my highest, from being classed as overweight and unhealthy to now fit and healthy. Also, my mental health has improved tremendously this year, I’m now a lot happier than what I was back in 2023!
Thanks to Craig for pushing me every single week at the brain injury football group, the ABI fitness group, and the 1-1 sessions we have”.
Hyrox
Following on from his recent success in November, our resident Hyroxer and PT, Chris Coupe, will be taking part in his first solo event this month in Manchester. With his continued hard work and dedication to his training, we’ve no doubt he will have a successful event and wish him the best of luck.
Coming up – staff development
This month our staff will be taking part in some training for ‘Spasticity management’ which will be delivered by Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist, Karen Howarth. Staff will be introduced to the variety of methods and techniques used to support those with muscle spasticity to help relieve pain and stiffness, improve mobility and dexterity and therefore decrease the frequency of spasms, and improving activities of daily living.
