October Newsletter
October has been a great month at CB Fitness, full of achievements, hard work, and fun activities. These are some of the main things that stood out to us this month.
Client achievements
First, we’d like to recognise the great progress all our clients are making. Below are two significant client achievements made this month.
Tom’s weight loss
We would like to mention a weight loss achievement for one of our clients, Tom, who has broken through the 14st barrier that he has been working towards and is now 13st 12lb. This puts his total weight loss in 6 months at 1st 7lbs. Not only have his support staff noticed the positive impact his weight loss is having on his mobility and fitness levels, but other OTs and OTAs have also spoken to us about well he looks and how much better he is moving, particularly when running. Well done, Tom!
Kyle’s Deadlift progress
Another of our clients, Kyle, has made great improvement towards a goal that he has been working towards over the last few months. This is to be able to deadlift 150kg. With this goal in mind, we made the following adjustments to his workouts:
- Sessions adapted to break down the key elements of the lift and focus on them separately.
- Introduced working on deficit trap bar deadlifts at a lower weight to help build on strength lifting from the ground.
- Introduced exercises to help improve grip strength i.e. Chin ups, Farmers carries.
Following these changes, along with Kyle continuing to build on his strength with deficit deadlifts and progressing in Chin ups, his ability to grip heavier weight has noticeably improved. Kyle is now able to do a 150kg block trap bar deadlift. The next step is to focus on removing the block gradually and for Kyle to lift directly from the ground. Well done Kyle, keep up the great work!
Gym sessions
A few months ago, we started doing group gym sessions for our clients. This was started with the intention of creating a community for our clients which would benefit their fitness and health, but also be a safe space for them to socialise and have fun. It has been very popular amongst our clients, as well as the trainers. We even recently had a PT from outside the area visit one of our sessions to observe what we do, and they gave great feedback on not only the work we are doing with our clients but the great rapport we have built with them.
With last month being October, Jade planned a Halloween themed group session for Friday 25th October. All the staff dressed up in Halloween themed clothes and wore spooky make up. Even some of the clients joined in wearing Halloween headbands. Jade created a spooky playlist to do the workout to, including some classics like Ghostbusters, Monster Mash and Thriller. Even the exercises were themed; the medicine balls became pumpkins to toss, and kettlebells were used for DEADlifts. It was a fantastic session that both the staff and clients really enjoyed taking part in.
Monthly team meeting
This month’s team meeting focused on what goes on behind the scenes. So, staff were re-trained in how to use our admin system, including booking appointments, creating new client records, and monitoring their individual work calendar. We also went through how to devise, adapt and write out client session notes and reports, providing guidance on what key elements need to be included when monitoring client progress.
Hyrox
One of our PTs, Chris Coupe, will be taking part in his second Hyrox event this weekend in Paris. We are all very proud of Chris and wish him the best of luck!
Whats coming up
- Staff first aid renewal training to take place
- Physio will be attending the gym group with one of his clients with a view to support him in future sessions
- Staff Christmas night out
Finally, here are a few things we have planned over the next month. All the staff are having a refresh of their First Aid training. We also have the Physio for one of our clients attending the gym group with him, with the view to support him in future gym sessions.
We also have our Staff Christmas night out at the end of the month, which will be a great night!
