Utilising Technology in Rehabilitation

Technology is a huge part of all our lives and is increasingly playing a large role in every aspect of it. In many people’s fitness routines smartwatches and fitness trackers have become a prominent feature; this technology is something I utilise as a personal trainer and encourage my clients to take advantage of. Using these devices allows me, and my clients, to view the progress of their rehabilitation, giving us a clear view of what is working well and areas that need more attention.

Smart devices have been particularly useful throughout the pandemic, especially during lockdown when I worked with clients over zoom rather than in a gym or their homes. Using them provided me with vital information about my clients that allowed me to continue putting effective training plans together, without which I would have had only what clients could tell me. These devices are also great for motivation and have been particularly useful in a time when people are struggling with this. If a client can see that their rehabilitation is progressing well, they will be more inclined to keep on track with it. In my experience smart devices have proven to be a great tool for development within rehabilitation and have become an important feature in my training.

I had the opportunity to speak with Unite Professionals about this subject and they have written a great article discussing it in more detail. Click on the link below to read it.
