January Newsletter
January has been a great month, with everyone getting back into the swing of things after Christmas and New Year. Here’s a quick update on what’s going on at CB Neuro-Fitness.
Fitness and social groups
Group sessions at CBfitness are a vital part of our offering, extending beyond just fitness. They foster a strong sense of community by creating a supportive, social, and motivating environment. Here, clients can share successes, overcome challenges, and hold one another accountable, strengthening their motivation and overall experience.
Here are the groups we currently have on offer:
Gym group
A circuit-based session combining both strength and cardio based exercises. They are facilitated by our expert Personal Trainers who have extensive knowledge of brain injuries, allowing us to adapt and tailor the sessions to each client, ensuring full accessibility for everyone. Sessions take place at Try Fitness, every Friday at 1-2pm.
Boxing group
Delivered in partnership with Heads Up Therapies, our non-contact boxing group is designed to be accessible and welcoming to all abilities. Sessions are planned by an ABI specialist Personal Trainer and an Occupational Therapist, ensuring they can be adapted to suit a wide range of needs. Sessions are held at Try Fitness, every Tuesday 1-2pm.
Walking Group
A gentler approach to fitness, our walking group is ideal for those new to fitness or who are restarting their fitness journey. Walks are carefully planned, with routes ranging from 3-6km and designed to be manageable and enjoyable for a variety of abilities. Each walk finishes with a drink and a bite to eat at a nearby cafe, where clients are given the opportunity to build connections, offer support and create new friendships. Sessions are run bi-weekly on a Monday at 1pm. As routes change each session, please keep an eye on our social media for more information.
Welcome Jason!
We’re absolutely delighted to add Jason to our team from January 2026
Jason offers a huge amount of experience having been a personal trainer for 14 years! His expertise spans across football coaching and personal training within secure mental health services, having rolled out the Mission Fit scheme across secure services during his time at Elysium Healthcare.
He’s also been involved in community weight management, and is currently also working at the Manchester United Foundation
Jason has a strong emphasis on team building and creating impactful health programmes in secure settings and in the community. His expertise will be greatly appreciated, and help us build our programmes and community offering further.
Welcome to the team!
Training
First aid
At the time of writing this, our team will have completed their first aid training, which was a great opportunity for everyone to get together, update their vital skills, and reinforce their knowledge. The session proved to be both informative and highly interactive, covering all the essential emergency procedures. It wasn’t all serious though; the team even had a bit of fun getting to practice bandaging each other up, which lightened the mood while ensuring everyone left feeling confident and fully prepared.
Prosthetics training
Next month , some of our PT’s will attend a training session about Prosthetics, delivered by physiotherapists. This specialised training will provide an in-depth understanding of the anatomy of amputations, critically examine how strength and conditioning training must be adapted for a client with a prosthetic, and cover best practices for exercise prescription. The goal is to ensure all our trainers are equipped with the expertise to design safe, effective, and fully customised programs for clients with limb difference.
