November Newsletter

Last month was a very busy one for everyone at CB Fitness. There’s been plenty of client achievements, the exciting launch of our new walking group, and lots of staff developmet. It’s been a great month all round.  Read on to find out more.

      Walking group

Last month saw the successful launch of the “Walk and Talk” group, with its first walk taking place at Entwistle Reservoir. The weather was ideal—a crisp, sunny winter’s day—and attendance was excellent, including several clients, a case manager, and even some dogs! The event concluded on a high note, with the group enjoying hot food and drinks at a nearby pub, making the first gathering a great success overall.

          NWABI – networking event

Craig and Jade recently represented the company at the North West Acquired Brain Injury (NWABI) networking event in Sale. This gathering provided an invaluable opportunity to network with fellow professionals and dedicated volunteers from across the ABI community. The event successfully facilitated the sharing of services and collaboration, while also raising vital funds for the Headway Salford and Headway Stockport charities. It was inspiring to connect with so many individuals committed to the collective goal of supporting those affected by an acquired brain injury.

              Lily’s moving to Australia!

This month, we were delighted to welcome Lily, our trainee sports massage therapist, back from her wonderful travels across Asia and Australia! She had such a fantastic time and fell so in love with the Australian way of life that she has decided to move there next year. It has been a true privilege to be a part of Lily’s journey this last year, watching her grow in confidence and as a person. She has been an absolute joy to have in the team, and while we will miss her, we wish her the very best of luck in this exciting new chapter of her life!

                  Client Spotlight

                  RoWh

A massive well done to RW, who has successfully lost an impressive 15cm from his waist since June! This fantastic achievement is the result of his hard work in the gym with Craig, alongside diligently working with his support team to adjust his diet and track his calories. His commitment and efforts have truly paid off.

                  AnOc

We’d also like to highlight the hard work and efforts made by Anthony in his sessions with Jade. The sessions have been focused on increasing full body mobility and functional strength, including time spent working on strides to create length in his walking pattern and improving his running. This hard work is paying off, as his running progress has been excellent. After trialling running in June with an initial time of 16 seconds for a 40m run, Anthony has now managed to finish his 40m run in less than 10 seconds twice this month!

                  AaBi

Finally, we’d like to shine the spotlight on AaBi. Having set himself the ambitious goal of completing a 5k run, Aaron is training hard with Jade and Craig across two weekly sessions. One session is dedicated to building strength through his hips and lower limbs, while the second focuses on running and building stamina on the treadmill. Given that AaBi has both spasticity and dystonia of the lower limbs, running can be quite challenging, so his running sessions are carefully broken down into intervals of walking and running to help manage fatigue levels. Despite these challenges, AaBi demonstrates persistent hard work and determination in every session and is progressing at a great rate and is now able to complete a total of 10 running intervals, covering an impressive distance of 2.15km.

                    This month

                    Christmas Gym Group

December is always a fun time of year to look forward to at CBfitness as it includes our annual Christmas gym group! It’s a great session that is enjoyed by all, with clients and staff dressing up in their best Christmas jumpers and costumes to complete a festive, Christmas-themed workout set to holiday music. We are certainly looking forward to this highlight of the year!

                    Staff Christmas night out

On December 12th, the team will be embarking on their Christmas staff night out. The festivities will start at Point Blank for an augmented shooting activity, where the team’s fun, competitive sides are sure to emerge! This will be followed by a visit to some nice cocktail bars before everyone gathers for a celebratory meal to end the night. It will be a welcome change to exchange the usual gym wear for something a little fancier.

                    New Equipment

After identifying that some of our clients struggle with lower limb strength due to mobility and stability issues, we are pleased to announce a significant investment in new gym equipment. This includes fixed resistance machines such as a leg press, leg extension, and hamstring curl. These additions will be a great asset to our client sessions, allowing us to deliver a more well-rounded, full-bodied workout and better address our clients’ specific strength and stability goals.
